THE LAND Transportation Office (LTO) in the Philippine capital has issued a safety advisory after apprehensions in the first half reached 7,451, the agency said on Sunday.
Of the total, 837 motorists were caught driving motor vehicles with faulty accessories, devices, equipment and parts, LTO said in a statement.
The LTO did not give comparative figures for last year.
“It is crucial to address any defective accessory promptly by repairing or replacing it to ensure your safety and the safety of passengers and other road users,” LTO-Regional Director Roque I. Verzosa III said in the statement.
These apprehensions were recorded by personnel from LTO-National Capital Region (NCR), the Public Works department and Philippine National Police.
Majority of the motorists were issued tickets for failing to carry the official receipt and certificate of registration for their vehicles, having unregistered vehicles, disregarding traffic signs, unauthorized modifications, reckless driving and driving without a valid driver’s license. — Justine Irish D.
