COTABATO CITY — Sagittarius Mines, Inc. has donated a customized planting equipment to native Blaans and Visayan settlers in two southern towns so they can propagate different varieties of bamboo.
The mining company donated a soil-boring machine that can be used in open fields and along rivers, Columbio Vice Mayor Naila Mangelen Mamalinta told reporters on Sunday.
The upland Columbio town in Sultan Kudarat is one of the four municipalities where Sagittarius Mines will soon mine for copper and gold.
The company’s center of operation is a Blaan ancestral land in Tampakan, South Cotabato that experts from the Environment department said has about 15 million tons of copper and 17.6 million tons of gold. — John Felix M. Unson
