Aboitiz gives equipment to Iligan, Baloi farmers to boost yellow corn business

THE ABOITIZ Group has given equipment to farmers’ groups in Iligan City and Baloi town to boost their production and income from yellow corn.
In a statement on Monday, the company said its corporate social responsibility arm Aboitiz Foundation and food unit Pilmico Foods Corp. delivered the equipment under programs that support inclusive agribusiness development among farmers.
The beneficiaries were the Hindang Multipurpose Cooperative in Iligan and the Marawi Baloi Farmers Association.
“Through this inclusive agribusiness project, the Aboitiz Foundation is committed to further help Marawi Baloi Farmers Association and Hindang Multipurpose Cooperative to attain organizational sustainability and scale up their production, taking advantage of the significant demand for yellow corn,” Aboitiz Foundation President and Chief Operating Officer Maribeth L. Marasigan said. Pilmico is one of the institutional buyers of yellow corn from the groups.
The Aboitiz Group said the programs were in partnership with Iligan’s City Agriculture Office, Cooperative Development Authority, Go Negosyo, and the Department of Agriculture.
Since 2016, more than P90 million worth of enterprise development assistance has been distributed by the Aboitiz Foundation to beneficiaries all over the country, the company said. — Revin Mikhael D. Ochave
