A 60.4-kilometer (km) diversion road linking Iligan City and Talakag town in Bukidnon is now in the works, and once completed will cut travel time between the two points to 1.5 hours from the current three hours. “This big-ticket project will serve as a shorter route between Iligan City and Talakag bypassing the usual route which passes through Cagayan de Oro City,” Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Region 10 Director Zenaida T. Tan said in a statement. Ms. Tan said the P394.76-million project will be undertaken on a multi-year program. DPWH has so far completed the concreting of 1.74 km of the road that will pass through agricultural lands within mountainous terrains of Iligan City.
