PHILIPPINE Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) former deputy executive director Raymundo W. Lo and PCMC official Sonia B. Gonzales are expected to submit their counter-affidavits on Friday, Dec. 28, in connection with their involvement in the purchase of the Dengvaxia vaccine. They are being impleaded by the Public Attorney’s Office in the second batch of eight complaints over the alleged Dengvaxia-related deaths of children. The two were summoned by the Department of Justice last Dec. 14 and were furnished with copies of the complaints. The doctors will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and violation of the Anti-Torture Act over the alleged deaths linked to Dengvaxia. Former Health secretary Janette P. Loreto-Garin along with officials of Dengvaxia manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur, Inc., distributor Zuellig Pharma Corporation, and other government officials involved in the implementation of the Dengvaxia vaccination are facing 29 charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and violations of Anti-Torture Act and the Consumer Act of the Philippines. — Vann Marlo M.
