THE METROPOLITAN Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will hold a forum today at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), which is seen to help solve the interminable traffic problem in the capital and move it towards becoming a smart city. Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Kim Wan Jib is scheduled to present the Transportation Operation and Information Service (TOPIS), the integrated traffic management center that oversees the South Korean capital’s traffic. “We hope that this would be an opportunity for lawmakers, decision-makers, to consider ITS as a viable solution that can help us reduce traffic congestion to a large extent,” MMDA Chairman Danilo D. Lim said in a statement. He added: “Our traffic and transportation situation in Metro Manila is so complex that we may need proven and effective systems to solve our persisting traffic problems.” — Minde Nyl R. dela Cruz
