THE CLARK-Metro Manila segment of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) would be closed to road users at intervals to give way to arriving world leaders during the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Meetings next month. So far, 22 heads of state plus other top officials have confirmed attendance and they are expected to start arriving on Nov. 11. The meetings will take place Nov. 13-15. “Basically, ’yung time gap is I think a few minutes, 15 minutes before… and then five minutes after,” National Capital Region Police Chief Oscar D. Albayalde said yesterday. Mr. Albayalde said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will give regular advisories on the traffic situation. Nov. 13-15 have been declared holidays in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Bulacan and Pampanga. — Rosemarie A. Zamora
