WITH PERFORMANCES ranging from a children’s show, to opera, to serious drama, a two-day arts festival this weekend at the newly opened BGC Arts Center celebrates the venue’s identity as “a home of the Filipino artist.”

Agnes Arellano’s Born of the Moon is a mini retrospective and a “combine-inscape” featuring all her works that celebrate the Moon, from the 1983 Temple to the Moon Goddess to the more recent erotic sketches. Exhibit opens on Jan. 12 at the Altro Mondo in Greenbelt 5, Makati City.
Feelings by Con Cabrera is on view at the Drawing Room Contemporary Art in Karrivin Plaza, Makati City, until Jan. 31.
Aliens vs. Robots, an exhibit featuring works by Clarence Chun, Patrick Cruz, Jon Cuyson, John Fortes, Pow Martinez, Marcius Noceda, Carlo Ricafort, and Cos Zicarelli, runs from Jan. 14 to Feb. 4 at the ARTERY Art Space in Cubao, Quezon City.
Chalk Zaldivar’s STRESS IN NUMBERS opens on Jan. 14 at the Vinyl on Vinyl Gallery on Chino Roces Ave., Makati City.
Silverlens is running two exhibits — Translacion, curated by Gary Ross-Pastrana and featuring Silverlens’ artists, and Echo by Gregory Halili — both on which are on view until Feb. 4 at the gallery’s new location, the Lapanday Center on Chino Roces Ave. Ext., Makati City.
The Ateneo Art Gallery presents #LUZ@90, curated by Ambeth R. Ocampo, which runs until April 8. Featuring recent and early works, the exhibition celebrates the 90th birth anniversary of Arturo R. Luz, National Artist for Visual Arts. The gallery is located at the Rizal Library at the Ateneo University campus along Katipunan Ave., Quezon City.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines celebrates the birth month of National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco via the exhibit Homebound: A Survey of Recent Developments in Angono Contemporary Art which is on view until Feb. 12.

The Homecoming of Tie a String Around the World, a re-staging of the Philippines’ official exhibition at the Venice Art Bienalle in 2015, is on view at the UP Vargas Museum’s 1F and 3F Galleries. The show will present works of Manuel Conde, Carlos “Botong” Francisco, Manny Montelibano, and Jose Tence Ruiz. The museum is within the UP Diliman campus in Quezon City.

100 bands, five stages, one event — the Rakrakan Festival: OPM Against Drugs will be held at the Mall of Asia Open Grounds, Pasay City, on Jan. 14. The five stages will be divided into Slam, Indie, Groove, Move, and Mosh and there will be music, merchandise, arts and skate. Tickets are available at SM Tickets for P500, P600, P1,500, and P2,000.
The Ateneo Chamber Singers, with conductor Jonathan M. Velasco, presents TATLO: 3 Nations. 1 Voice on Jan. 14, 7 p.m., at The Theatre at Solaire, Solaire Resort & Casino. 1 Aseana Ave., Entertainment City, Parañaque City. The Ateneo Chamber Singers will be joined by the Gaia Philharmonic Orchestra of Japan and the SYC Ensemble Singers of Singapore, with the special participation of Gerard Salonga and the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra. Sa Wakas, a Pinoy rock musical featuring the songs of OPM band Sugarfree, returns to the stage on Jan. 12 to Feb. 5, a the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati, Makati City. The bittersweet love story written by Andrei Nikolai Pamintuan and Marian Abuan revolves around three characters and tells about how a relationship ends and begins.
