ABOITIZ Construction, Inc. (ACI) expects to generate about 4,000 jobs this year as it pursues more big-ticket logistics and infrastructure projects.

In a statement Thursday, the construction firm said it needs more workers to meet job orders and contracted projects for both its local and international clients.

ACI has posted vacancies for skilled workers, business development specialists, estimators, designers, project managers, supply chain specialists, and on-site human resource professionals.

The company also expects more opportunities in engineering, architecture, project management, and supply chain operations given the number of government infrastructure projects. These could be taken up by overseas Filipino workers seeking to return to the country, it said.

“We really have to recruit aggressively at the sites where we construct our projects. About 85% of these jobs will be mobilized for our Visayas and Mindanao operations,” ACI President and Chief Operating Officer Albert A. Ignacio, Jr. said in a statement.

ACI’s projects for the year include the South Mega Distribution Center of Metro Pacific Movers, Inc. in Cavite. It earlier said that it is undertaking the facility expansion of a shipbuilding company in Cebu and modular fabrication work for a plant in Canada.

The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Lopez-controlled First Balfour, Inc. to explore potential project collaboration in the Visayas. — Arra B. Francia
