Nike’s LeBron Soldier 12 Agimat shoe to be released
NATIONAL Basketball Association superstar LeBron James’ unparalleled effort to strive for greatness and the Filipinos’ belief in spirit are once again spotlighted in the new limited- edition LeBron Soldier 12 Agimat.
Taking its cue from the first iteration of the shoe released in 2017, the latest LeBron basketball shoe features a simplified strap, lower collar, and circular knit upper that is a “symbol of toughness” just like the Filipino, said Nike Senior Footwear designer Jason Petrie in describing the structure of the shoe.
With features inspired by local cultural elements, especially the line “Mula Mandirigma Sa Mandirigma” (From one soldier to another), the LeBron Soldier 12 Agimat, Nike Basketball said, is aimed at inspiring basketball warriors on court.
Its also has unique symbolism that stands out aesthetically.
Both MNL and the number 330 are found on the shoe as a shoutout to the players in Manila and LeBron’s hometown area code of Akron, Ohio, respectively.
A blazing flame stands for the volcanoes the Philippines is known for and LeBron’s intense passion for the game.
Four stars remind everyone of his four most valuable player awards.
Finally, a steep mountain is a subtle nod to the terrain of the Philippines and Mr. James’ relentless drive to be on top of the mountain and be the best to play the sport.
To mark the arrival of the latest LeBron shoe, Nike has decided to showcase it through the Philippine men’s and women’s teams competing in the ongoing FIBA 3×3 World Cup currently being hosted by the Philippines at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
The Soldier 12 Agimat is currently being sported by men’s players Stanley Pringle, Christian Standhardinger, Roger Pogoy, and Troy Rosario and women’s players Jack Animam, Afril Bernardino, Gemma Miranda, and Janine Pontejos.
The Nike LeBron Soldier 12 Agimat will be available in the Philippines starting June 15. Limited pairs will be available at Nike Park Fort, Glorietta 4, Mall of Asia, Trinoma as well as Titan Two Parkade, Vertis, Conrad and on Titan22.com.
