Ever Bilena launches Kris Aquino’s makeup line
KRISTINA BERNADETTE “Kris” C. Aquino, might be the “Queen of All Media” after having successfully transitioned to producing her own digital content starting with the Kris List web series but it seems that she has also found an affinity in creating color cosmetics as evidenced by her recent collaboration with local cosmetics brand, Ever Bilena.
“This is our first time collaboration with a celebrity,” Denice Sy-Munez, Ever Bilena key accounts manager, told reporters during the launch of the collaboration on May 31 at La Vita at Marina Bay restaurant in Pasay City.
Ms. Sy-Munez said the collection was Ms. Aquino’s idea and was brought to life six months after meeting with the Ever Bilena team in January.
“The Ever Bilena Kris Life Kit is a true passion project… I am just so blessed that Boss Deo Sy [Deoceldo Sy, the owner of Ever Bilena Cosmetics] believed in my vision and was impressed with my knowledge,” Ms. Aquino said of her collection in a June 3 blog post on her self-titled website.
The collection, Kris Life Kit, currently contains two Kris Matte Matic Lipsticks (P245) in shades Life (a dusty rose shade) and Love (a neutral bluish-red shade) and two Kris Mate Brow Liners and Brow Mascaras (P275) in Beyond Brown and Taupe, but Ms. Sy-Munez said it would expand in the following months including the release of a liquid lipstick line (P255) which will be released in a few weeks and the basics — face powders and blushes — in the next six months.
“Like everything Kris does, I believe the Kris Life Kit would be just as timeless,” said Ms. Sy-Munez, confirming that the collection is a permanent one and not a limited edition collection.
Celebrities have recently been coming out with their own beauty lines — Anne Curtis-Smith with her BLK cosmetics and Jose Marie “Vice Ganda” Viceral with his Vice Cosmetics — and Ms. Sy-Munez said that this is not a bad thing.
“It creates [a] clamor for color cosmetics,” she said, adding that in recent years, Ever Bilena, which has been in the Filipino market for 35 years, has begun to re-align its strategy and “tap into the trends,” and introduce the brand to a younger market by coming out with contour palettes and highlighters.
The introduction of the Kris Life Kit also indicated the first time the brand has ventured into online selling with the collection landing on online beauty store, Beauty MNL, and Lazada. — Zsarlene B. Chua
