CEBU Pacific Air (CEB) now has another hub and two new routes connecting Mindanao to other regions in Luzon and Visayas.

In a statement released on Friday, Cebu Pacific said Cagayan de Oro’s Laguindingan airport will now serve as the airline’s seventh hub, with flights (including those of subsidiary Cebgo) to and from Manila, Bacolod, Cebu, Iloilo, Tagbilaran, Davao, and Zamboanga, and two new routes connecting the Misamis Oriental airport to Dumaguete and Caticlan (Boracay) in the Visayas. With the new routes included, Cebu Pacific now has 37 local destinations.

“The expansion of the CEB domestic route network will also increase the carrier’s capacity and reach for cargo service. This will mean faster and more efficient movement of goods across the country,” the statement read.

Cebu Pacific aims to carry 20 million passengers by year-end, it said in the statement, noting that it has already handled 10.09 million passengers between January to June this year.

The four-year old airport handles 1.7 million passengers annually and is considered to be the sixth busiest airport in the Philippines, according to the statement. – Anna Gabriela A. Mogato
