THE unit of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) in Subic Bay said it was able to achieve its goal of handling 200,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEUs) in the port last December.
Subic Bay International Terminal Corp. (SBITC) said in a statement on Monday it “capped 2018 with a milestone after reaching its 200,000th twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) move last 23 December.”
SBITC is the ICTSI subsidiary that manages New Container Terminals 1 and 2 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
“More than hitting our targets, this new record highlights Subic Bay International Terminal’s capability to continuously outpace market growth, and readiness to serve the vibrant Subic Freeport market,” SBTIC President Roberto R. Locsin said in the statement.
The New Container Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 each have an annual handling capacity of 300,000 TEUs for a total capacity of 600,000 TEUs for SBITC.
ICTSI previously said Terminal 1 has two post-Panamax cranes, four reach stackers, two empty container handlers, three forklifts, 22 prime movers and 30 chassis as of end-2017, while Terminal 2 has two post-Panamax quay cranes, three reach stackers and two forklifts.
