THE Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has temporarily removed all downloadable forms on its website due to a cyber threat found over the weekend.
In a notice posted on its website Monday, the commission said all downloadable forms from the site will be temporarily unavailable due to system maintenance. This includes the general information sheet (GIS) and all forms related to company registration.
The Company Registration System (CRS), which allows the online pre-processing of company registrations, is also down.
The SEC did not reply for comment as to when the forms and the CRS will be back online.
BusinessWorld reported on Monday that the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) detected a malware infection on the downloadable GIS on the SEC website. Any computer used to access the SEC forms may be at risk of getting infected by the malware.
The DICT said it has already notified the commission about the threat, and will conduct a vulnerability assessment of the website this week. — Arra B. Francia
