Tod’s fall-winter collection is inspired by its roots
THE ICONIC Italian brand Tod’s takes inspiration from its roots in Italy, particularly the rich Italian tradition of leathercraft.
Tod’s new bags, presented during a preview on Aug. 9, include the Thea Bag, a versatile crossbody bag that somehow follows the lines of a woman’s body despite its bulk. A simpler bag, the T Shopping Bag, is fastened by a double T, appearing like a belt buckle, and is deceptively simple, with side pockets and a rich suede lining. Meanwhile, Tod’s Wave bag gets a new look for winter, appearing in white and covered with shearling.
As for women’s shoes, boots and booties are presented for Fall-Winter, in rich orange tones suggestive of the season. To add a touch of festivity, Tod’s iconic Gommino driving shoe is decorated with fringe and tassels. A biker aesthetic is seen in the models Mask Boot and masculinity is expressed in the Wedge: think, like a man’s loafers, but with a creep sole that masquerades as a wedge heel. The same approach to more complicated heels and soles are seen in the men’s collections, also butched-up with powerful-looking creepsoles, described in a press release as “designed for walking in town.”
In the Philippines, Tod’s is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., and is located at Greenbelt 4 and Rustan’s Shangri-La, Shangri-La Plaza. — J.L. Garcia
