Both tech geeks and the clueless will enjoy this gadget store that allows them to choose from curated items displayed from one to ten ranking.
Hive Mind — which means an entity composed of a large number of individuals who share their knowledge and opinions with each other to come up with a collective intelligence — happens to be the name of the store opened by Digital Walker last month at the 3rd level of TriNoma Mall in Quezon City.
Hive Mind by Digital Walker is a tech hub that houses best performing premium accessories for customers to easily find the right gadget they are looking for.
“The idea behind Hive Mind is that it helps you choose what best gadgets there are. What’s really interesting in this store is that it pulls the information from Digital Walker sales and it tells you what the best gadgets are in Hive Mind,” said Petra Gana, account manager for And A Half which did the branding and design for Hive Mind.
The selection is based from Digital Walker’s monthly sales and is listed by category such as cables, powerbanks, earphones, and speakers, among other things. Each category has its Top 10 most sought-after accessories and best-selling brands displayed in a 10 x 10 grid.
And A Half’s Ms. Gana said the inspiration for the whole brand is sharing information, communicating with people, and allowing them to talk about gadgets through this store.
“Hive Mind is about shared consciousness,” Ms. Gana said. “The store is really authentic; like talking to a friend for a recommendation.”
Each item on display has corresponding information beside it which basically explains what the product is and serves as a guide to customers.
“Using this grid, we really want to organize the information for the customers to understand each. It’s not just aesthetics,” Ms. Gana said.
Digital Walker Philippines Marketing Manager Mark Javellana said the items on display at the store are the best-selling items from the previous month.
“When we get the sales data from our research team, we automatically change it on the first day of the month,” he said.
The concept store’s layout makes it easy for the staff to quickly change the accessories based on the new data provided by Digital Walker.
Charles Paw, CEO of Digits Trading, Inc., said that through Hive Mind, customers’ selection to only the best.
“To this day, peer recommendation is still among the best ways to know exactly how a product performs. It’s like listening to thousands of tech enthusiasts and taking their choices to make it easier for others to find the right gadget,” he said.
