THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Tuesday announced the rollout of its first unified beneficiary database system aimed at improving the delivery of social protection services across the region.

In a press release, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) said the enhanced Beneficiary Data Management System (BDMS) consolidates data on recipients of government aid to make services more accessible, efficient, and transparent.

The system was developed with the assistance of the Australian Government and UNICEF, amid the continued increase in the cost of living and energy prices that are putting more strain on families.

According to MSSD, BDMS integrate data from at least 10 social protection programs that currently cover over 106, 000 households, including women, children. Persons with disabilities, and senior citizens. It is expected to benefit up to two million individuals when fully implemented.

BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua said that this is part of the regional government’s efforts to strengthen digital governance and make public services more inclusive.

MSSD Minister Raissa H. Jajurie added that digitalization will help ensure that assistance reaches the right beneficiaries.

The BDMS will be implemented in BARMM field offices, along with training to ensure proper use and protection of data. — Pexcel John Bacon
