THE Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) is set to file 10 more complaints on Oct. 30 before the Department of Justice related to deaths allegedly linked to the Dengvaxia vaccination.
This will bring the Dengvaxia-related cases filed before the DOJ to 27.
PAO Chief Persida V. Rueda-Acosta relayed this to reporters in a text message on Sunday.
The first 17 cases were filed against former health secretary Janette P. Loreto-Garin for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and for violations of the Anti-Torture Act and Consumer Act.
The 37 others charged over the vaccine controversy are Dengvaxia manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur, Inc., distributor Zeullig Pharma Corporation and other government officials involved in the implementation of the Dengvaxia vaccination.
Also on Oct. 30, the first batch of the nine complaints will conclude the preliminary investigation.
The DoJ has asked Ms. Garin and 37 other respondents to file their counter affidavits on the second batch of eight complaints on Oct. 29.
Ms. Acosta has said in a previous interview that PAO’s forensic team has autopsied 96 bodies of alleged victims.
