DoE optimistic on investor interest in PCECP
THE DEPARTMENT of Energy (DoE) recently concluded its road show on the Philippine Conventional Energy Contracting Program for Petroleum (PCECP) in Zamboanga City, and is now preparing for the launch in Manila, optimistic of having stimulated investor interest in the program. “The DoE is pursuing initiatives to ensure the affordable, reliable and sustainable energy (through PCECP)… we will launch PCECP on 22 November,” said Ismael U. Ocampo, assistant director of the DoE’s Energy Resource Development Bureau. Margene Gregandy P. Servito, science research specialist of the DoE’s Petroleum Resources Development Division, cited the advantages in exploring the country’s natural resources: under-explored hydrocarbon potential, only 10% of which had been explored, very attractive fiscal terms, expanding internal energy market and technology-neutral policy. “We need to intensify the effort to explore our indigenous oil,” Mr. Serviette said. — Albert F.
