Duterte mate Peter Lim, 5 others summoned over drug case
ALLEGED BIG-TIME drug lord Peter Lim, known to be a friend of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, has been summoned by the Department of Justice (DoJ) following a complaint filed by the police.
The complaint was filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group against Mr. Lim along with Rolan “Kerwin” Espinosa, convicted drug lord Peter Co, Marcelo Adorco, Max Miro and Lovely Impal.
The six are expected to appear at the preliminary investigation hearing set on Aug. 14, to be headed by Assistant State Prosecutors Aristotle M. Reyes and Michael John M. Humarang.
They are facing complaints for violating Section 26 (b) of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Section 26 (b) pertains to an “attempt or conspiracy for the sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of any dangerous drug and/or controlled precursor and essential chemical.”
The DoJ has already placed the six under an immigration watch list.
In a four-page memorandum dated July 11, 2017 and released to media on Monday, Justice Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre II directed Immigration Commissioner Jaime H. Morente to instruct all immigration officers in the country’s airports and seaports to be on the lookout and prevent Mr. Lim and the five others from leaving the country.
The DoJ said the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order was issued upon the request of Police Superintendent Richard B. Verceles. — Kristine Joy V. Patag
