THE University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers strengthened their back court after securing the commitment of former Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles standout LA Casinillo.

Tigers head coach Jinno Manansala said the Bacolod City native is a great pick up for UST as he adds depth to the point guard rotation that also features Paul Manalang and Joshua Fontanilla

Casinillo was actually a recruit of former Growling Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo for the UST high school basketball team last year. He, however, was unable to play for the Tiger Cubs with the cancellation of Season 83 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The high school standout, for his part, said that being recruited by the Growling Tigers is a realization of his dream to play in the UAAP.

Casinillo was the second recruit unveiled by the Growling Tigers this offseason after earlier securing the commitment of former University of the Philippines Integrated School gunner Jordi Goméz de Liaño
