The OK Bikol Association Inc., and the regional offices of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Tourism, hold the annual Orgullo Kan Bikol-Gayon Bicol Trade and Tourism Fair at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall, from Oct. 8 to 11. Now on its 19th year, it is the longest running regional trade and travel fair which brings to the fore the distinct products and tourist spots from the six provinces of Bicol. Among the products for sale are abaca products, furniture, home furnishings, cutlery, pottery, gold craft, fashion accessories, processed food and beverages, health and wellness concoctions, pili-based candies and delicacies, and a wide assortment of novelty items. Avon Philippines’ Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer 2015 Walk and Run will be held on Oct. 10, with the run starting at 5 a.m. and the walk beginning at 6 a.m. It will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds, Block 12. The Goethe-Institut Philippinen presents the Science Film Festival 2015 from Oct. 19 to Dec. 9, presenting 44 science films from around the world. From Oct. 8 to 18, PELÍCULA-PELIKULA, the Spanish Film Festival, will be featuring the best of contemporary Spanish cinema at the Greenbelt 3 Cinemas. Presented by Instituto Cervantes, the Embassy of Spain-AECID, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and Intramuros Administration, the 2015 edition of the Spanish Film Festival will screen around 30 films. The Festival has traditionally been graced by the presence of foreign filmmakers. On Oct. 12, at 9:30 p.m., Spanish journalist Ramón Vilaró will present his film, De aliados a masacrados (2014), a documentary about how the Filipino-Spanish population of Manila was decimated during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during the Second World War. On Oct. 13, the Czech filmmaker Lenka Kny will present his comedy Milagro en Praga (2013), and followed by an open forum. The romantic comedy film is about two families, Mexican and Czech, who cross paths in Prague over the Christmas holidays. The films to be shown range from romance and comedy (Ocho apellidos vascos, Tres bodas de más, Gente en sitios) to documentary (Paco de Lucía, La plaga), suspense (Relatos salvajes) and drama (Hermosa juventud, Artico). The Festival will have a second leg in Intramuros, from Oct. 19 to 25, which will include an exhibit, Spanish Cinema in 20 Posters, at the NCCA Building where the film screenings will be held. A selection of films will travel to other cities in the Philippines, namely Baguio, Ilo-ilo, Zamboanga and Davao. Samsung Electronics Philippines and the Yuchengco Museum present a tribute exhibition to National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera who is is marking 50 years as an artist. The interactive exhibit, dubbed BenCab in Two Movements, is on view at the museum until Jan. 16. The exhibition highlights handpicked works he created to capture the dance movements of London-based Chinese dancer San Lee, and Polish dancer and choreographer Paulina Wycichowska. The University of Santo Tomas Singers, under the baton of its conductor Prof. Fidel Gener Calalang Jr., will stage A Joyful Noise!
