Your Weekend Guide (January 6, 2017)
The new exhibit space of Silverlens

Silverlens moves to a new location — Lapanday Center in Chino Roces Ave. Extension, Makati City — and opens two exhibits in time for its inauguration on Jan. 7: Translacion, a group show curated by Gary Ross-Pastrana and featuring Silverlens’ artists, and Echo by Gregory Halili. Both exhibits open at 6 p.m. and will be on view until Feb. 4.

Ateneo Art Gallery presents #LUZ@90, curated by Ambeth R. Ocampo, which runs until April 8. Featuring recent and early works, the exhibition celebrates the 90th birth anniversary of Arturo R. Luz, National Artist for Visual Arts.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines celebrates the birth month of National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco via the exhibit Homebound: A Survey of Recent Developments in Angono Contemporary Art which is on view until Feb. 12.

The Metropolitan Museum of Manila presents three exhibits, collectively called FORTY, in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The MET Collection and New Acquisitions and The MET Archives are on view until Jan. 8, while The MET and the BSP Print Collections runs until Jan. 13. Along with the three exhibits, The MET is displaying Ronald Ventura’s iconic two-piece carousel at the museum lobby. The Metropolitan Museum of Manila is located at the Bangko Sentral Compound, Roxas Blvd., Malate, Manila.

The Homecoming of Tie a String Around the World, a re-staging of the Philippines’ official exhibition at the Venice Art Bienalle in 2015, is on view at the UP Vargas Museum’s 1F and 3F Gallerie. The show presents works of Manuel Conde, Carlos “Botong” Francisco, Manny Montelibano, and Jose Tence Ruiz.

Michael Pangilinan will have a concert this weekend.

Glomar Entertainment presents Sincerely Yours, Michael Pangilinan on Jan. 7, 8 p.m., at the Music Museum, Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan. With special guests comics Ai-Ai delas Alas and Arnell Ignacio, and featuring the CD launch of Jelai Espino, with guest Alisah Bonaobra. FILMS

EVENTS

A two-part Performance Art Workshop by artist Marta Moreno Muñoz will be held on Jan. 8 and 11 at the Pineapple Lab in Makati City. The event includes devising a performance, workshop, and live testing it on an audience. Registration is P2,500 for both days and P1,800 for a one-day walk-in.
