Museum Foundation of the Philippines session on Teodulo Protomartir
THE MUSEUM Foundation of the Philippines is holding a webinar on how amateur photography and its evolution in the Philippines have accidentally created heritage images. He will introduce viewers to Teodulo Protomartir, a pioneer promoter of Philippine amateur photography from the 1930s to the 1950s. This talk is based on the exhibit in 2019 that showcased the near-lost work of the pioneer responsible for bringing 35mm film photography to the country. The session will be led by Roderick “Jay” Y. Javier, MFAD, academic adviser of the AB Photography Program of the De La Salle University-College of Saint Benilde. Webinars on the Role of K-Dramas
THE KOREAN Cultural Center and the BGC Arts Center are holding a two-day webinar focused on bringing people behind-the-scenes to learn more about what goes on in the production and script writing of Korean dramas. The webinars will be held on Nov. 6 and 7, 9:30 a.m., and will be viewed on the YouTube page of the cultural center (channel name: KCCPhil) and the Facebook page of the arts center (@BGCArtsCenter). PPO in Quarantine
THE PHILIPPINE Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) continues to present online performances through the MUSIC FOR HEALING: PPO in Quarantine Pocket Concert Series to uplift minds and hearts in the midst of the COVID-19 quarantines. One of the three pocket concerts, PPO by Your Side, will be streamed on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m., through the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Website. The pocket concert will feature following pieces: “Songs My Mother Taught Me (Als Die Alte Mutter)” by Antonín Dvorák, to be played by Gerry Graham Gonzales (cello) and Rommel Camba (piano); “The Swan (Le Cygne)” by Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns, to be interpreted by Herrick Ortiz (cello); “The Girl with the Flaxen Hair (La fille aux cheveux de lin)” by Claude Debussy, to be performed by Giuseppe Andre Diestro (cello) and Dr. Michelle Nicolasora (piano); and “Cantabile in D Major Op. 17” by Niccolò Paganini, to be performed by Giancarlo Gonzales (cello).
CCP Children’s Biennale
AS PART of the ongoing Children’s Biennale of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), join sopranos Alexa Kaufman and Gerphil Flores in Small Voice, a production which tells the story of a young soprano who finds her voice and her subsequent career as an opera singer. This will be held on Nov. 8, 4 p.m. Aside from the performance, children can also watch animated shorts: Augie Rivera’s Ang Katawan Ko at Ako, Jaypril Bataller’s Halimaw, Philex Merano and Dominic Barrios’ Work in Progress, Carl Papa’s ‘Nay, and Nonoy Dadivas’ Junkzilla. The performances and shorts will be available on the Batang Sining Facebook page.
Ayala Museum Tea Tasting and Historical Exploration
SERVED Manila and the Ayala Museum will hold Spill the Tea: A tasting and Historical Exploration on Nov. 7, 3 p.m. Join Sheryl Ebon-Martinez (tea sommelier, TeavolutionPh) and Tenten Mina (Associate Curator, Ayala Museum) as they brew and taste six high quality teas from around the world as well as discuss the rich, cultural history of tea drinking. Japan Foundation to screen anime
THE JAPAN Foundation, Manila is partnering with Animahenasyon PH: The Philippine Animation Festival again this year with an online film screening of Director KON Chiaki’s Happiness Charge Pretty Cure!: Ballerina of the Doll Kingdom (Nov 10, 11:15 am, over https://vimeo.com/ondemand/prettycure) and a Virtual Director’s talk (Nov 10, 12:30 p.m., over FB Live at https://www.facebook.com/AnimahenasyonPH). A free access link will be made available on the day of the screening of Happiness Charge Pretty Cure!. Robinsons Magnolia has an indoor pet park
ROBINSONS MALLS has launched its first indoor pet park, located at the second level of Robinsons Magnolia. The pet park spans more than 70 square meters and can easily be found through its colorful fences and installation. Done in partnership with Top Breed, the pet park is equipped with obstacle modules designed for healthy pet exercises, a grass carpet (so it is paw-friendly), and a wide assortment of pet toys. Pet poop bins and a water fountain are within reach. A photo wall is also provided. The pet park can accommodate small to medium-sized dogs, up to 50 pounds, and is open every day from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
