GLOBAL COMFORT Group, which now manages the Apo View Hotel in Davao City, is looking to develop a property in the neighboring Island Garden City of Samal. Edmundo G. Las, Apo View managing director, said they have already started discussing with a landowner in Samal for the site of the planned high-end resort. “Hopefully we will be able to finalize our agreement before the end of the year so that we can start the project next year,” Mr. Las told BusinessWorld last month during the launch for the Apo View rebranding. He said the Global Comfort Group wants to have at least two properties to manage and market in Davao, and they remain on the lookout for other opportunities in the region. The company is also setting up a second hotel near the Apo View Hotel, with a P120-million capital for the six-floor, 12-room facility. Another company within the group, Euro Towers International, Inc., is currently constructing a 37-floor condominium just about 300 meters away from the hotel. — Carmelito Q. Francisco
