CONVERGE ICT Solutions, Inc. launched on Wednesday a new product meant to improve WiFi coverage at home through a wireless mesh network.
The fiber internet provider said in a statement it tapped hardware manufacturer Linksys to produce its “Velop” products, a “whole home mesh WiFi system” under the Converge Seamless brand that will allow its customers to customize their home WiFi layout to improve connection anywhere in a closed space.
“One problem when it comes to household WiFi use is the existence of dead spots, specific areas within a home where the WiFi signal emitted by a router is either too weak or blocked… With Linksys’ suite of intelligent whole-home Mesh Wi-Fi solutions, Converge ICT subscribers can now have a reliable connection wherever they may be,” it said.
The company explained the device has the capacity to “self-organize, self-optimize and heal,” meaning each node in the device could automatically connect to a router and identify ideal spots in an area for better connection.
“If ever a node within your home gets disconnected, the remaining nodes instantly regroup and link with each other. The nodes are very easy to set up, all users must do is plug them in, tap a few settings on the mobile app, and let the technology do the rest,” it said.
Converge ICT said the Velop devices are available as an add-on service for subscribers of its FiberX plans-P600 monthly rate for FiberX 2500, FiberX 3500 and Fiber Xtreme 4500 subscribers, and a P3,000 one-time payment for Fiber Xtreme 7000 subscribers. — D.A.Valdez
