ABS-CBN Corp. on Wednesday said it kept its lead in nationwide television ratings in July, citing data from Kantar Media.

In a statement, ABS-CBN said it recorded an average audience share of 46% in July, 12 points more than rival GMA Network, Inc.’s 34%, thanks to hit shows like FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, La Luna Sangre, and The Voice Teens.

Kantar Media’s data covered a nationwide panel of 2,610 urban and rural homes, which it says represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

The Lopez-led media giant said its average audience share for the primetime block (6 p.m.-12 midnight) reached 51% in July, 19 points higher than GMA’s 32%.

“The primetime block is the most important part of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investment in to reach more consumers effectively,” ABS-CBN said.

The listed entertainment company said it continued to dominate the morning block (6 a.m.-12 noon) with an average audience share of 40%, against GMA’s 31%; noontime block (12 noon-3 p.m.) with 44% share versus GMA’s 39%; and afternoon block (3 p.m.-6 p.m.) with 43% against GMA’s 38%.

ABS-CBN also maintained its lead in Total Luzon with 42% audience share versus GMA’s 37%; in Total Visayas with 55% against GMA’s 28%; and in Total Mindanao with 55% versus GMA’s 30%.

ABS-CBN’s coverage of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s second State of the Nation Address on July 24 grabbed a national TV rating of 16.6% versus GMA’s 7.8%.

Aside from ABS-CBN, among Kantar Media’s local current subscribers are Peoples Television Network, Inc., Viva Communications, Inc., Solar Entertainment Corporation.

GMA Network has yet to release its July TV ratings, based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

ABS-CBN is the first to switch from analog to digital terrestrial television, with the distribution of TVplus boxes. TVplus units offer exclusive channels with no monthly fees while also offering a pay-per view service for local and foreign movies. A TVplus unit is currently being sold for around P1,500.

As of June, the company has sold three million TVplus boxes since its launch in 2015.
