Conference
#TheBodyLoveRevolution
Sept. 29
Whitespace Manila,
Chino Roces Ave. Ext., Makati City

From personal issues to topics many still consider taboo — heart to heart conversations may go beyond a circle of friends.
She Talks Asia, a movement which hosts conferences that aim to strengthen and educate people about the role of women, brings #TheBodyLoveRevolution on Sept. 29 at Whitespace Manila in Makati city.
#TheBodyLoveRevolution is a conference that will look into topics on body love, such as getting to know one’s self-worth, myths about body positivity, and the media and perceptions of beauty.
The one-day conference will consist of 10 forums and 24 speakers including photographer Sara Black, celebrity chef Erwan Huessaff, and beauty queen Catriona Gray; and a workshop by movement therapist Joey Atayde.
Social entrepreneur and She Talks Asia COO Eleanor Pinugu said that during the movement’s first gathering in 2017 — then called Every Girl Can — she noticed that many women became comfortable with sharing their stories.
“During that [informal] conference, the kind of conversations that came up is something that we wanted to happen more often here. We do not have that much dialogue. The unique [thing] we offer is that we want to give everyone a safe space,” Ms. Pinugu said during a press conference in Discovery Primea in Makati.
The idea behind the conference is to create an avenue were people understand you and experience the same situation. “We also wanted to provide a place where we can all be part of some kind of healing,” actress and She Talks Asia co-founder Iza Calzado said.
The organization plans to mount two conferences in 2019 — the She Talks Asia Summit in March and the I Matter conference on mental health in September.
Funds raised from the conference will be used to help fund body love workshops for high school and college students.
