and other venues
FOR THE 12TH YEAR of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ open house multi-arts festival Pasinaya, artists and performers come together under the umbrella theme “Family and Children” on Feb. 7 in the CCP grounds and other partner institutions.
For the children, there will be performances by youth choirs, musical performances, puppet shows, storytelling, poetry readings for children, and stage productions of well-loved tales such as Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland. There will also be film screenings and lecture demonstrations.
Pasinaya serves as a preview of the forthcoming seasons of CCP Resident Companies — the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, University of Santo Tomas Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Philippines, Philippine Ballet Theater, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, National Music Competitions for Young Artists, Philippine Madrigal Singers and Tanghalang Pilipino — and other guest performers in the fields of dance, music and theater.

Among the visiting performers are four international award-winning music groups: the Boscorale, the Ligao National High School Choir, Baao Children & Youth Choir, and Triple Fret, all 2015 international competition winners.
Visitors can watch the preview performances, view exhibits and watch quality films on a see-all-you-can scheme and a pay-what-you-can scheme. Minimum donations are P20, while there will be P300 ballers which will serve as a fast pass that will enable visitors to use the special lane to all the venues.
MULTIPLE VENUES
According to Ariel S. R. Yonzon, Associate Artistic Director under the CCP’s Production and Exhibition Department, Pasinaya 2016 will begin at about 6 a.m. on Feb. 7 and will fan out to the CCP’s partner institutions — the Metropolitan Museum, Museo Pambata, National Museum, Rizal Park, Casa Manila, Bahay Tsinoy, 1335 Mabini Gallery and Museo Marino. Two new institutions have been added for this year: the University of the Philippines Manila Museum of A History of Ideas, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Cinematheque Manila.
Chris B. Millado, Vice-President and Artistic Director of the CCP, acknowledged the partnership between the CCP and the FDCP Cinematheque Manila and the UP Manila Museum of A History of Ideas. “We consider this whole area as some kind of organism… with the cooperation of the different institutions found in this area, we might be able to sat that we are indeed the beating heart of creativity in Manila, if not Manila, but the rest of the country,” he said in a speech at the Cinematheque during a Jan. 29 press conference.

“Pasinaya is a Tagalog word meaning, ‘to launch’… and I feel that today is the launch of something really very exciting… I think today, we’re launching a partnership that hopefully will last for years, and will benefit the broadest publics,” he added.
About 30 vans courtesy of the Museum Foundation of the Philippines will be deployed to help audience members move from one museum to the other.
