THE Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) will hold its annual conference on Oct. 12 at the ballroom of Shangri-La at the Fort in Taguig’s Bonifacio Global City.
“Future-Proofing Through Innovation” is the theme of the 2018 national convention that brings together the country’s top finance professionals. This event will be the highlight of FINEX’s 50th anniversary celebration with its overall theme of “Transform for a Sustainable Future. Today.”
Keynoting the plenary session are H.E. Kok Li Peng, the Republic of Singapore’s Ambassador to the Philippines, and Alex C. Eng, Chairman Emeritus of the Institute of Management Accountants’ Global Board of Directors. Mr. Eng is also the Vice President for Corporate Finance of EDF Renewables.
Equally interesting are the four breakout sessions with titles that have a millennial vibe, namely: How Now Innovation Cow; Learn to Rock; To Tech or Not to Tech? That is the Question; and Shake Rattle and Roll: Innovations in Marketing and Media.
FINEX President Marivic Españo and the 2018 Board of Directors have invited a wide array of speakers who are experts in their respective fields, such as Willy Arcilla, Joel Garcia, Josiah Go, TG Limcaoco, Rey Lugtu, Riza Mantaring, Alicia Morales, Kristine Romano, Stephanie Sy, and Margot Torres.
According to digital media firm Eco-Business.com, future-proofing is the process of anticipating the future and developing solutions to minimize the negative effects while taking advantage of the positive effects of shocks and stresses due to future events. A commitment to the sustainable development of our planet is at the heart of any future-proofing strategy.

Some 10,000 students from more than a hundred universities nationwide are expected to attend this groundbreaking event to be keynoted by H.E. Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Archbishop of Manila, and Tessie Sy-Coson, chair of BDO Unibank, Inc.
Topics to be discussed during the breakout sessions include: Government for the Youth; Inspirations of the Future; Journey of a CFO; The Millennial in Corporate Leadership; and From Showbiz to MyOwnBiz.
These segments shall line up outstanding speakers from the private and public sectors to speak before a millennial audience during the whole-day conference. Government officials who will share their finance perspectives are Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Chuchi Fonacier, Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Eliseo Rio, GoNegosyo Founder Joey Concepcion, and Congressman Michael Romero, Assistant Majority Floor Leader at the House of Representatives.
From the corporate world, the discussants are BDB Law CEO Dick Baladad, SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim, International Container Terminal Services CFO Rafael Consing, Ortigas & Co.
