Victoria town police defend station from NPA attack

THREE SUSPECTED members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) were killed and another was captured after they attacked the police station in Victoria, Northern Samar early Thursday morning, a day before the 50th founding anniversary of the armed group. According to a report of the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8), around 50 NPA rebels assaulted the station at 3:44 a.m. and the gun battle lasted for about three hours. The 15 police officers on duty put up a defense and other cops in the region were later deployed to assist. Two police officers were injured.
