REPRESENTATIVE Jericho B. Nograles of the PBA Party-list is being eyed to take over the Davao City District 1 seat vacated by his brother, Karlo B. Nograles, who has recently been appointed as by President Rodrigo R. Duterte as Cabinet secretary. “(It is just) a matter of formality,” Jericho Nograles told BusinessWorld yesterday when asked if House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has already designated him as the district’s caretaker. He added, however, that he will unlikely take his brother’s previous position as chair of the House committee on appropriations. Karlo Nograles, in a separate interview Wednesday at the sidelines of the 17th Career Executive Service Conference, said, “Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will assume as caretaker of District 1 to avoid lack of representation for the district, but I am hoping the speaker will appoint somebody from Davao City.” He said the name of his brother Jericho came up as his possible replacement since he also comes from the same district. — Carmencita A.
