MEMBERS OF the extremist Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) attacked a civilian community and a military auxiliary force detachment in Barangay Kauran, Ampatuan, Maguindanao last Sunday evening, the military reported on Tuesday. The Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) said two civilians and one member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) were wounded. They were identified as Ronelo Dordas, Carlybeth Pradas, and the CAFGU’s Michael Enito. “I directed the field units in the area to intensify their military operation and to hunt the terror group members for such cowardly and desperate acts. Apparently, this is a revenge as BIFF members suffered a setback during our focused military operation in the Salibu-Pagatin-Mamasapano and Shariff Aguak box,” Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana, Joint Task Force central commander, said in a statement. Lt. Col. Alvin G. Iyog, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion commanding officer, said security measures have been strengthened by both the military and the police to ensure the safety and security of the community. — Tajallih S.
