Vivant Corp. (Vivant) has named Ramontito E. Garcia as the listed energy holding firm’s new chairman and chief executive officer.

In a stock exchange disclosure on Monday, the Cebu-based company said Mr. Garcia’s appointment was approved on April 4. He was the company’s president before his new appointment.

His former post is now held by Arlo A.G. Sarmiento, who was recently the company’s chief operating officer.

The promotions came in the wake of the passing of Dennis N.A. Garcia, the company’s late chairman and chief executive who died on March 28 of complications related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). He was 70 years old had prior respiratory health issues, specifically emphysema

The listed firm earlier disclosed that the COVID-19 pandemic might affect the sales of its electricity units, including Visayas Electric Co., one of the country’s largest electricity utilities in which it has a 34.81% stake. 

Meanwhile, the company’s oil subsidiaries reported a sufficient supply of fuel. — Adam J. Ang
