TO GIVE way to the construction of the Metro Rail Transit-7, the U-turn slot in front of CW Home Depot along Commonwealth Avenue will be closed temporarily starting midnight of July 1 this year, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jose Arturo S. Garcia announced Thursday. The U-turn will be relocated temporarily in Tandang Sora and will be used as a counter-flow lane during the State of the Nation Address on July 22. The adjustment is expected to affect 10,000 vehicles a day, according to Mr. Garcia. Also, the U-turn in Don Antonio Heights will be opened during the weekend. To make way for the construction of the two-kilometer segment 3A-1 of the C5 South Link, the U-turn immediately after the ramp for the flyover will also be relocated around the Heritage Park this weekend. Around 2,500 vehicles use this U-turn daily. — Katrina T. Mina
