A CEREMONIAL groundbreaking for the P970-million road rehabilitation projects, funded by a Japanese government grant, was held Monday, marking the start of implementation through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Leading the ceremony were Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, and officials from the city and provincial governments. Mr. Villar said the projects cover the civil works for the Marawi Transcentral Road Contract spanning 9.56 kilometers (km), and detailed engineering designs of 13 other road sections with a total length of 20.80 km. Meanwhile, civil works for another Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-funded project, involving the 9.41-km Bacong-Iligan-Marawi Road, is now under the bidding process.
