The Senate on Monday, May 28, approved on third and final reading six bills converting the Land Transportation Office (LTO) extension offices into regular licensing centers.
Senator Grace S. Poe-Llamanzares, chair of the Senate committee on public services, earlier sponsored the House bills seeking to convert the LTO extension offices in San Pablo, Laguna; Balayan, Batangas; Malabon; Batangas City; Muntinlupa; and Kawit, Cavite.
“Converting LTO extension offices into regular LTO district offices would, in effect, mean faster processing of transactions, and hopefully, shorter queues,” she said in a statement.
She further said legislation was needed on the extension offices to provide them with the necessary capacity and budget to handle transactions.
“Our push to better serve the public does not end there. We must ensure that these frontline offices of the LTO can actually implement the law that we passed,” Ms. Llamanzares said.
