THE Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) named Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp and Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. as the winning bidders for the procurement of oil-based fuel for two power plants this year.
The government agency on Friday announced that Shell and Phoenix will be supplying and delivering the fuel for the Ilijan Natural Gas Power Plant (INGPP) and the Malaya Thermal Power Plant (MTPP) for 2018.
“Shell and Phoenix passed the post-qualification process that PSALM conducted that determined the existence, authenticity, and sufficiency of the eligibility and technical documents they submitted,” its statement read.
Shell submitted the lowest bid at P961.16 million for the supply and delivery of neat diesel oil for the 1,200-megawatt (WT) INGPP.
Phoenix likewise submitted the lowest bid to supply and deliver industrial fuel oil and diesel oil to the 650-MW MTPP at P1.14 billion and P47.70 million, respectively.
The MTPP was set to be privatized this year, and will be bidding will be conducted for its operations and maintenance.
According to PSALM, other bidders who competed for the procurement were Petron Corp., Petrotrade Philippines, Inc., Seaoil Philippines, Inc., and SL Harbor Bulk Terminal Corp.
PSALM handles the privatization of public power assets of the National Power Corp. and other properties.
