FOR THE second straight week, the price of gasoline will be unchanged while that of diesel will rise by P0.45 per liter (/L) to reflect the movement of prices in the international market, oil companies said. Kerosene will increase by P0.65/L per liter. The price adjustment will be implemented at 6:00 a.m. today, Sept. 26. Last week, the prices of all three petroleum products were unchanged. Before the advisories came in, the Department of Energy (DoE) was expecting a small increase in gasoline prices, but it said its basis were the prices during the Monday-Thursday trading. A DoE official said the result of Friday’s trade might have offset the expected price rise. The two weeks of unchanged prices for gasoline follow several weeks of gradual increase. For diesel, the P0.45/L price hike comes two weeks after the P1.30/L increase, the biggest for the petroleum product so far this year. — Victor V. Saulon
