PRESIDENT RODRIGO R. Duterte has warned the mayor of a town in Negros Occidental against sowing fear and to allow the people “to vote freely” on May 13. In his speech at a campaign rally in Bohol Wednesday night, the President said that he dropped by Negros Occidental to talk to a mayor whom he did not name. “I came from [Negros] Occidental — these fools just keep on killing there. I’ve already told them that…. Well, there’s a certain mayor that’s really the suspect of everybody. So, I confronted the mayor. I talked to him,” the President said. The town of Moises Padilla in the province has been placed under Commission on Elections control due to political violence with recent killing of two town councilors seeking reelection. “So, you just be careful…allow everybody to vote freely. This is a democracy. This is an exercise of the right of the people to choose their leader,” he added. — Arjay L. Balinbin
