PRESIDENTIAL Spokesperson Ernesto C. Abella on Friday, Oct. 27, said the Department of Interior and Local Government will implement the dismissal order of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog “once it receives the official copy of the decision from the Office of the Ombudsman.”

The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered Mr. Mabilog’s dismissal for serious dishonesty, in connection with unexplained wealth in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth in 2013.

“The Ombudsman confirms that it has ordered the dismissal from the service of Mayor J. Mabilog for Serious Dishonesty,” the Ombudsman posted on its official Twitter account.

According to the tweet, the decision was approved by Overall Deputy Ombudsman Melchor Arthur H. Carandang on Oct. 6.

Mr. Mabilog has also been tagged by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in the drug trade, along with slain mayors Rolando R. Espinosa of Albuera, Leyte, and Reynaldo O. Parajinog Sr. of Ozamiz City.
