SECURITY FORCES are on heightened alert as Davao City hosts the Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Meet 2019, which opened Jan. 27, and amid the Sunday bombing in Jolo, Sulu. “We are intensifying our monitoring to secure the city especially with the DAVRAA. The checkpoints are already in place but we have instructed our men to implement stringent checking of vehicles and people,” Davao Task Force Commander Col. Nolasco A. Mempin said yesterday. Mr. Mempin said they are also conducting random checkpoints in coordination with the Philippine National Police. “So far there is no confirmed information or firsthand information of any threat for Davao,” he said. — Carmencita A.
