Honda still calling back around 100,000 cars

HONDA Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) said only half of the estimated 199,000 units of Honda City, Jazz, Civic, Accord, CR-V and Pilot sold in the country between 2001 and 2015 that have defective Takata airbags have so far been repaired. The company is calling for the rest of affected owners to bring their vehicles to any Honda Cars dealership to have the airbags replaced.

The service is free and can be done in an hour, HCPI said.

The company first issued the recall in December 2017. It seeks to replace the airbag inflator, which was found to have fragments of it hitting the car’s occupants when the airbags are deployed. The defect has caused deaths in other countries.

HCPI said customers can check if their vehicle is affected by inputting the Vehicle Identification Number at hondaphil.com/services/vin-search.

New site, app for car services launched

A NEW Website and app called beepbeep.ph now offers car services like Maintenance Valet and Curated Directory, as well as those addressing emergencies.

The Maintenance Valet allows owners to book their vehicles for servicing at any facility, then have these brought there by beepbeep.ph’s drivers. The drivers, according to the Website company, wear body cameras and are monitored via GPS. The vehicles are under insurance coverage when these are in the possession of beepbeep.ph drivers.

Curated Directory is an app providing information and access to over 7,000 car shops. beepbeep.ph’s emergency service involves 24/7 roadside assistance for towing, battery replacement and tire changes. It is available in Metro Manila, and does not require a membership.

Smart Parking pitches multi-level solution

SMART Parking said its system can convert a 33-square-meter space (enough for two parking slots) into a multi-level facility which can fit 12 to 16 vehicles. In tighter areas, ingress and egress of vehicles can be addressed by an optional turntable, negating the need for space on which vehicles can maneuver.

Smart Parking said the facility can be installed in five days and carries a 10-year warranty.
