Eurika! Young singer launches debut album

Posted on July 06, 2012

WHILE OTHER girls her age are preoccupied with school and leisure activities, 12-year-old Eurika is busy working on her dream of being a recording artist.

The young singer, who considers Mariah Carey and Celine Dion as her idols, recently launched her self-titled debut album, which contains 10 cuts including the carrier single “Kung Puwede Lang.”

The song is currently enjoying heavy airplay on major FM radio stations in Mega Manila such as WIN Radio 107.5, Big Radio 91.5, WOW FM 103.5, Star FM 102.7, iFM 93.9, YES FM 101.1 and Pinas FM 95.5.

The sweet pop song is also gaining a strong following in Visayas and Mindanao thanks to FM radio stations.

“I am very thankful for all these things happening to my career,” Eurika told reporters recently. “Not everybody is given a chance to live their dreams, and I am grateful to all those who have helped me make my dreams come true.”

Once a finalist in ABS-CBN’s Corp.’s singing contest Little Pinoy Dream Academy, Eurika is literally the embodiment of someone born to sing.

She said she was merely six months old when her family noticed her humming along to a song she just heard from the radio. By the time she was two, Eurika could perform 10 pop songs, including Jessa Zaragoza’s 1997 hit song “Bakit Pa.”

“I value my studies. But I really like to sing. I promised my parents I will study hard, and keep my high grades despite my schedules as a recording artist,” Eurika said.

Aside from “Kung Puwede Lang,” Eurika’s debut album contains seven other original songs including “Topak” composed by veteran songwriter Snaffu Rigor, the engagingly upbeat “BFF,” as well as the environment-friendly “Lipad.”

Two well-rendered foreign cover songs -- Tifanny’s “Radio Romance” (1989) and Sonia’s “Listen to Your Heart” (1990) -- round out the album orchestrated by noted album producer Reck Cardinales, and distributed by indie label Aika Records.
