BACOLOD CITY -- The firearms of policemen were sealed last week as part of the campaign against indiscriminate firing during the holidays.

Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, Jr., director of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas, reiterated the warning of Philippine National Police chief, Director-General Nicanor A. Bartolome, on the firing of guns during the yuletide season.

“Fire your guns and be fired,” he said as he led the gun-sealing rites at the Bacolod City Police Office. The firearms issued to personnel of the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office and the 31 police stations in the province were sealed earlier.

Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director, had also cautioned his men against indiscriminate firing. Licensed gun holders who will illegally discharge their firearms will lose their licenses and will face charges, he added. -- Nanette L. Guadalquiver
