NationDavao, IBM beef up securityPosted on June 28, 2012 DAVAO CITY -- An agreement has been inked between IBM-Philippines and the Davao City government to boost the local government’s security system.
The P128-million project for the Public Safety Command Center will firm up the city’s claim as a destination for tourists, said Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, who signed the deal on Tuesday with Mariels Almeda-Winhoffer, country manager of IBM Philippines.
The Intelligence Operations Center, city officials said, will synchronize all information from agencies and police to analyze patterns and be proactive in anti-crime efforts. The project will start in August and is planned to be turned over to the city government in May 2013. Ms. Carpio said IBM won the right to install the technology through bidding. Contracted to Abratique and Associates, Inc., the system is equipped with several monitors to keep track of the traffic situation in 16 intersections. -- JBE |
