1335MABINI opened its new exhibition space in Karrivin Plaza, 2316 Chino Roces Ave. Ext., Makati City with an exhibit of works by Poklong Anading. Meanwhile, Mabini Projects presents Lory Joy Ablola together with current artist-in-residence, Naoki Tomita in a two-person exhibit running until Nov. 17 at Casa Tesoro, Manila. The exhibition is part of Cumulus Blimp: A Transnational Platform of Discourse – a series of exhibit that aims to induce diverse perspectives on the agenda of cultural engagement. The exhibitions have been featuring artists from Indonesia, Austria, America, Israel, Japan, and the Philippines.
Lion King tickets on sale on Nov. 3
TICKETS to the Manila premiere of Disney’s The Lion King are going on sale to the general public on Nov. 3. Direct from London’s West End production is Mthokozisi Emkay Khanyile in the role of Mufasa. Also from the United Kingdom is music theater performer Antony Lawrence as Scar. Australian actor Andre Jewson will feature as Zazu; New Zealand born performer Jamie McGregor will play Timon and South African Pierre Van Heerden will return as Pumbaa. Joining the company are six actors from the Philippines. Sharing the role of Young Simba will be Julien Joshua Dolor, Pablo Palacpac and Juan Gabriel Tiongson; sharing the role of Young Nala will be Sheena Bentoy, Uma Martin and Felicity Napuli. Cecile Licad plays Chopin in concert

RUSTAN’S, along with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Philippine Italian Association, celebrates its 65th anniversary with a concert that highlights world-class Filipino talent with Cecile Licad Chopin in the Key of C. To be held on Oct. 27, 8 p.m., at the CCP Main Theater, the concert will feature the timeless classics: Chopin’s Concerto No. 1 in E Minor and Concerto No. 2 in F Minor which will be brought to life by multi-awarded classical pianist Cecile Licad. The PPO will play Genoveva’s Overture as opening number under the baton of Olivier Ochanine. Proceeds from the concert will all go to the San Pablo Apostol Parish Church in Tondo, Manila under the stewardship of an Italian priest, Fr. Carlo Bittante of the Canossian Sons of Charity, one of the three Italian Missionary-run charities supported by the Philippine Italian Association.
