JOHN HARDY, a Hong Kong-based jewelry brand known for its handmade jewelry techniques and Asian designs, has unveiled its newest retail concept as it grows from a counter to shop-in-shop in Rustan’s Makati.
Eschewing the bamboo accents it was previously known for, the new store features a more modern interior still “featuring elements of Bali,” according to a company press release, as jewelry is encased in walnut wood accented with traditional Palu (“hand-hammered” much like the Filipino word, palo) gilded metal.
The new concept will be rolled out to the two other John Hardy counters in Mandaluyong and Cebu City.
Alongside the new design, the brand has also unveiled its latest Spring/Summer 2017 collection which includes the following lines: the Bamboo collection where precious metals are made to resemble the resilient plant, the Modern Chain collection, a re-imagined hand-woven collection presenting finer and sleeker gold and silver pieces; the Legends collection — inspired by the mythic animals the Naga, Macan, Cobra, and Eagle, represented by statement pieces featuring pearls and moonstone — which is meant to embody the creatures’ “strength and prosperity”; the Classic Chain collection, the “essential expression of the John Hardy brand” featuring the iconic hand-woven silver and gold pieces; the Dot collection, where pieces made from metal, wood, and stone are accented by hammered-in circles said to “epitomize infinite potential and boundless love”; and, finally, the Men’s collection, which features bolder pieces — ranging bracelets to double-sided amulets — made from metal and wood.
John Hardy is available at Rustan’s Makati, Rustan’s Shangri-La Plaza Mall and Rustan’s Ayala Center Cebu. — ZBC
