Bukidnon teams rule Rodeo Masbateño tilt

COWBOYS from Masbate province led by the MPL Rodeo Team galloped with the major prizes in the Rodeo Masbateño Festival, the country’s biggest cowboy festival, held recently in Masbate City. The Malaybalay City-based team snatched first place in bull-riding and four-man carambola events, second in the steer wrestling from horseback and four-man load-carrying relay, to come up with the best cumulative score.

Capturing second and third honors are Libona Rodeo A and Libona Rodeo B of the Municipality of Libona, Bukidnon. Clint Barroz of Libona A was also awarded Rodeo King for his excellent individual score in the five-day sporting extravaganza which showcased the skills of ranchers.

Meanwhile, Xavier University of Cagayan De Oro City dominated the men’s and women’s divisions of the Student Category participated by 10 agricultural schools across the country. Moreover, Rosario Bulan of XU was crowned Philippine Rodeo Queen, a mini-pageant among participating cowgirls.

The sports tourism event which gathered 186 participants from 17 professional and student teams, is organized by the Rodeo Masbateño, Inc. and supported by the Provincial Government of Masbate, City Government of Masbate, Department of Tourism-Region 5, Filminera Resources Corp. and DM Consunji, Inc.
