Ducati freshens up styling of Hypermotard 939

Posted on August 09, 2017

DUCATIíS Hypermotard 939 gets a new Star White Silk color scheme, in which a satin white paint job on body panels is combined with a red frame and matching red wheels. The new livery, Ducati said, previews the 2018 version of the bike -- which would still be offered in the classic Ducati rosso with black wheels.

As its name suggests, the Hypermotard 939 is propelled by a 937cc Ducati Testastretta engine that is already Euro4-compliant, and which outputs 110hp and 95Nm. Standard in all Hypermotards are the Ducati Safety Pack, which gathers together a three-level ABS, an eight-way adjustable traction control system, and a selection of three riding modes. Each riding mode has different electronic settings that allow the Hypermotard three distinct personalities.

Propping the Hypermotard 939 is a 43-millimeter Kayaba inverted fork that has 170 millimeters of travel, and a Sachs shock absorber with adjustable damping and 150 millimeters of wheel travel. The bike weighs 181 kilograms dry, has an 850-millimeter seat height, and rolls on Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tires.

In its most extreme and sportiest version, called the Hypermotard 939 SP, the bike sheds off three kilograms and gets as standard a fully adjustable 50-millimeter Ohlins inverted fork with 185 millimeters of travel, as well as a fully adjustable Ohlins shock absorber with 175 millimeters of travel.

The SP also features a raised chassis setup, allowing for lean angles of up to 47.5 degrees -- a must in extreme track riding. Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires provide the rider the confidence to exploit this capability.

Nobody wants to see the new color scheme get messed up, right?
